Background

This scheme is administered by the Office for Zero Emission Vehicles (OZEV) and funded by the Department for Transport (DfT).

Objectives of Fund

The EV Chargepoint Grant for Landlords is for commercial landlords that rent, lease or manage commercial properties.

There are two grants available for installing chargepoints for electric vehicles at a property:

  • An electric vehicle chargepoint grant (EV chargepoint grant)
  • An electric vehicle infrastructure grant (EV infrastructure grant)

Applicants can use an infrastructure grant and a chargepoint grant on the same property.

Value Notes

The grant covers up to 75% of the cost to buy and install a chargepoint socket, limited to £350 per grant. Some chargepoints may have more than one socket.

Each financial year, landlords can receive up to:

  • 200 grants for residential properties
  • 100 grants for commercial properties

Match Funding Restrictions

At least 25% of the project costs must be met through match funding.

Who Can Apply

The following organisations can apply for this grant:

  • Landlords with property that they let.
  • Right to manage (RTM) companies.
  • Residents’ management companies (RMCs).
  • Companies owning the freehold of a property.
  • Companies owning a building’s common areas, including shareholders who are the property’s leaseholders property factor in Scotland.
  • Private registered providers of social housing (PRP).
  • Public authorities, such as government departments and their agencies, the armed forces, local government, the NHS and emergency services.
  • Charities managing or owning residential property.

Applicants must be a landlord or other entity that rents, leases or manages properties in the UK.

Applicants can apply for single-unit residential properties, such as flats and houses, multi-unit residential properties, such as apartment blocks; and commercially-let units.
