Background
The Placemaking Grant is administered in Mid Wales by Powys and Ceredigion County Councils as part of Welsh Government's Transforming Towns programme.
Objectives of Fund
The funding is intended to support the revitalisation of town centres and make Mid Wales' towns even better places to live, work and visit.
Town centre regeneration projects may be eligible for this fund.
Value Notes
The programme budget for Mid Wales for 2025-2027 is £4 million.
The minimum level of eligible project costs that can be considered is £30,000 (excluding VAT). Applications are restricted to a maximum grant of £300,000 (excluding VAT).
The amount of grant awarded to a project will depend on a number of factors including Subsidy Control considerations and scheme viability.
Match Funding Restrictions
Any funding allocated through the Placemaking Grant should be considered as a last resort. In the first instance all other funding avenues need to be explored including private investment and loans, as well as where there are dedicated funding streams such as Active Travel or the Community Facilities Programme.
Who Can Apply
Applications will be accepted from private businesses, third sector organisations and the public sector in Ceredigion and Powys. The fund is available to all town centres in the region, but must demonstrate links to town plans and show how they benefit the town centre.
Project proposals can come forward from any town within the region under the Placemaking Grant. Applicants will need to demonstrate how the projects aligns with the town's placemaking plan or wider investments strategies within the town.

Eligible Expenditure
The funding is used for capital investment regeneration activities. The fund supports initiatives including:

- Installation and exploitation of digital infrastructure.

Applications may be made at any time on a first come, first served basis to support the delivery of projects by 31 December 2026.
